Apollo Star Under Auckland Skies for One Night Only
Battlestar Galactica star Jamie Bamber, who plays ‘Apollo’ in the American science fiction franchise, arrives in Auckland on Friday 20 December for An Evening With Apollo, which will surprise and delight new and old fans alike.
The evening event will be held at Auckland’s Pullman Hotel and is presented by Beyond Reality Media, organiser of the hugely successful Armageddon Expos.
Englishman Jamie Bamber first played Captain Lee ‘Apollo’ Adama in the Battlestar Galactica 2003 mini-series. The show first debuted in 1978. Other roles have included Detective Sergeant Matt Devlin in the television series Law and Order.
Bamber also appeared in the Hornblower series inspired by the novels of CS Forester, as well as British series Ultimate Force, where he played an SAS officer and Peak Practice, where he featured as a trainee doctor. This year has seen him star in the medical drama Monday Mornings.
The evening will feature the finale of Battlestar Galactica projected onto large screens, a question and answer session with Bamber, and signing and photo sessions with the star.
Event organiser William Geradts says hosting the 40 year-old English actor marks a strong finish to 2013.
“In addition to our massively successful Armageddon Expos around the country, we’ve had two successful sci-fi mini events, featuring Red Dwarf and Doctor Who stars, so having Jamie here will be the icing on the cake,” he says.
“Sci-fi is definitely alive and well in New Zealand,” says Geradts.
