Yuletide laughs from Wellington Improv Troupe
WIT brings you a cracker of a Christmas season
It’s been a heck of a year for Wellington Improv Troupe; after bringing Wellington such highlights as Secrets, Thrills & Swoon and The Young and the WITless, they’re back with a smorgasbord season of Christmas delights in this year’s Christmas Cracker.
Over four nights at Gryphon Theatre in December, WIT presents seven different shows selected from its back catalogue of
improv magic. Including both short and long form formats, WIT’s Christmas Cracker will have something for everyone as it celebrates 10 years since the Wellington Improvisation Troupe formed out of a
cheerful morass of Fringe Festival improvisors in 2003.
“There’s been so many shows over the years that have delighted both our audience, and us as players, says WIT Creative
Director Jennifer O’Sullivan. “It’s a real treat to revisit some of our favourites for this Christmas Season. As a
former Improv Diva, I am especially looking forward to our Diva reunion!’

Battle of WITS - Tuesday 10th December 7pmHot team on team all-in all-out over the top improv action! Teams of intrepid improvisors will battle it out to be
crowned the champions. Choose your favourites and help them vanquish all rivals. The show that started it all!
Thrills & Swoon - Tuesday 10th December 8:30pmQuivering bodices. Dark brooding eyes. Unbridled passion. Inspired by the romance novels you pretend not to read,
stories and scenes will be created on the spot, as fresh as an innocent flower waiting to be plucked. First seen at NZ
International Comedy Festival 2013.
Gorilla Theatre - Wednesday 11th December 7pmIt’s the law of the jungle as a crew of seasoned improvisers take turns directing their opponents - creating scenes,
stories, sagas or songs before your eyes in a bid to win your approval. And bananas. And one unusually personable
Gorilla. A licensed format from the International Theatresports Institute and one of WIT’s mainstays.
Duets - Wednesday 11th December 8:30pmTwo improvisors. One stage. No limits. Three pairs will take to the stage with only each other to rely on, and no limits
to where the improv takes them. First seen Christmas Cracker 2012.
Divas ReUnited - Thursday 12th December 7pmThe Improv Divas performed their first WIT show back in 2004, and since then some amazing performers have been part of
the group. Enjoy some of the best of the best on stage in a special reunion show!
Love Possibly - Thursday 12th 8.30pmWill there be love? Well, uh, possibly. There’ll likely be love, laughter, betrayal, awkwardness and any number of other
human conditions, pinned to the stage like sparkly butterflies for dissection with a sharp improv knife. An original
Improv Divas format.
Micetro - Friday 12th Dec 7pmA raucous evening of spontaneity mixing beloved improv games, charismatic humility, and audience suggestions to create
an utterly unique night of entertainment that will never be seen again!
About WIT
The Wellington Improvisation Troupe (WIT) is Wellington’s not-for-profit, community-based improvisational theatre group.
WIT performs and teaches the skills of improvisational theatre at community venues around the Wellington region.
Theatre is made up on the spot by some of Wellington’s leading improvisers and courageous newcomers alike, based on
suggestions from the audience. WIT players share a love of storytelling and work together as a team to inspire the
