Fisher Makes Good on First Title Shot at NZ Open 2013
In the first of two chances at a title, Neil Fisher skipped his Browns Bay side onto the podium in the men's triples this morning at The Trusts NZ Open 2013 on the Henderson Bowls green.
Rolling up alongside Colin Rogan (lead) and John Walker, Fisher's trio began their dominating performance against David Hood (skip), Cedric Campbell and lead Barry Allison (Composite) with a four on the first end. A two in the second was followed by a slew of singles for the Browns Bay team that ended the match on the fourteenth end, 15-4 to Fisher.
A place in the men's singles final tomorrow afternoon facing Tony Fabling (Hillcrest) will afford Fisher another title chance, this time playing for Howick - the other club he is a member at and for which he won the same title in 2011.
“I've won here twice and lost once,” Fisher said as he accepted his third gold at the tournament.
“But my team carried me through this time,” the veteran bowler who has won “heaps of club titles” said with a smile.
