Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup Day today
Christchurch Casino New Zealand
Trotting Cup, a highlight of New Zealand Cup and Show Week,
is on today.
Christchurch City Council Events Development Manager, Richard Attwood says a crowd of up to 25,000 racegoers is expected at Addington Raceway, with sunny spells and light winds forecast.
“Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup, the most prestigious two mile (3200 metre) harness race will be especially exciting this year. Winner for the last two years, Terror To Love driven by Ricky May is a favourite again and could make history for both horse and driver.
“Of course the day is not complete without the best dressed at the races competition. This year fashionistas will vie for the best-dressed ladies’ and men’s awards in the Westfield Riccarton Style Stakes,” he says.
It is still not too late to get tickets to Addington Raceway today.
“General admission tickets can be purchased at the entry gates today from 9.30am. The first race of the day runs at 11.50am and the racing action continues through to 6.30pm. The feature race of the day runs at 5.15pm,” Mr Attwood says.
“We also want to remind people heading to New Zealand Trotting Cup Day events at Addington of an alcohol ban in the area.
“A temporary liquor ban around Addington Raceway and Events Centre, in an area bounded by Blenheim Road, Moorhouse Avenue, Lincoln Road, Wrights Road and Matipo Street, will be in place from 9am to 10pm today. It will not affect bars or cafes in the Addington area,” Mr Attwood says.
