In response to requests from so many disappointed fans in the main centres who missed out on their sold out tour earlier this year, the UK's favourite hit-makers THE HOLLIES return to New Zealand with their celebrated live show for three final concerts to mark the end of their special 50th Anniversary celebrations.
THE HOLLIES have created some of the greatest songs of our time including He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother - Look Through Any Window - Bus Stop - Just One Look – Sorry Suzanne - On A Carousel - Carrie Anne – The Air That I Breathe and more.
THE
HOLLIES -- one of the best and most commercially
successful pop/rock acts of the British Invasion -- are
known for their distinctive vocal harmony style, and have
become one of the leading British groups of a generation
that still gain new fans with their infectious melodic
music. They enjoy considerable popularity in many countries.
Along with The Rolling Stones and The Searchers, they are
one of the few British pop groups from the early 1960s that
have never officially broken up and that continue to record
and perform.
When THE HOLLIES began recording in 1963, they relied heavily upon the R&B/early rock & roll covers that provided the staple diet for countless British bands of the time, although they did not achieve major US chart success until 1966. They quickly developed a more distinctive style featuring three-part harmonies (heavily influenced by the Everly Brothers), ringing guitars, and hook-happy material, penned by both outside writers (especially future 10cc member Graham Gouldman) and themselves, eventually composing most of their repertoire on their own. The best early Hollies records evoked an emotional excitement similar to that of the early Beatles, although not reaching the same heady heights of fame as the Beatles, ironically they had more hit singles in the 1960's. But they tried though, easing into somewhat more sophisticated folk-rock and mildly psychedelic sounds as the decade wore on, especially on their albums.
Their stage show features top production values and will bring THE HOLLIES sound to life just like the original recordings. The Hollies have enjoyed a record 50 unbroken years in the music industry with 22 Top 10 hits along the way and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 ‘For their impact on the evolution, development and perpetuation of Rock n’ Roll’.
THE HOLLIES are excited to be coming back one more time to perform for their loyal New Zealand fans who have thoroughly enjoyed their concerts over recent years. Here's what Kiwi fans have said about the shows......
"What a blast! As good as they ever were musically. The Hollies engaged the audience from the first song to the last. We're still buzzing from the experience with one of the world’s great bands."
"The Hollies once again showed why they have survived the decades. A fabulous concert with the Hollies playing their old hits and some new ones thrown in.....life doesn't get much better."
Don't miss your chance to enjoy The Hollies live.
