Every athlete knows the importance of the recovery phase. Now, every adidas Auckland marathon participant has the chance to experience the ultimate in recovery treatment thanks to Unitec Institute of Technology.
“Every finish line is also a start line for recovery,” explains Paul Weeks, Unitec’s Sponsorship Advisor, Student and Community Engagement.
“This year, Unitec’s osteopathy students and staff are putting on a special sport recovery treatment zone open to all competitors for after-race sports massage therapy.
“Post-race recovery treatment is important for muscle and joint recovery and is an effective way to ease tension and reduce race-related injuries,” says Weeks.
Treatments, available from 6am until 2pm on race day, cost $10 for 10 minutes and funds raised will go to Arthritis New Zealand. To avoid a queue, book a treatment before the race online at http://tinyurl.com/post-race-recovery.
While you’re experiencing Unitec’s post-race recovery treatment, take time to consider what success means to you. Sharing your views of success could win you a $10,000 success pack courtesy of Unitec’s My Success Campaign.
Weeks says the definition of success is entirely personal to each individual.
“Success to one person may mean achieving financial security, for another it may mean achieving a life of balance; for others it may represent opportunity to spend a life giving back to others in need.
“Our MySuccess Campaign aims to uncover how New Zealanders define success – and by sharing their insights, inspire others to take a path to achieve their own success.”
For the opportunity to win the $10,000 Success package, entrants can upload a video clip or write ideas on what success means to them at http://mysuccess.ac.nz/
To find out more, take time to visit the Unitec booth at Victoria Park on race day – after visiting the Unitec recovery zone!
