Pere Ibañez releases new photography series, Generation Y
Internationally renowned Spanish artist, Pere Ibañez will soon be releasing a new photography series entitled Generation Y. Scheduled to be released on November 4th, the series will explore reactions to some of the crises and political issues that have polarized nations in recent years. Pre-orders on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the Apple iBookstore are already available.
Generation Y, a play on the question “why,” illustrates the impact of prejudices on an individual, human level and challenges why we continue to endure them. The series represents a shift in both style and subject for Ibañez, making use of softer colors and more subtle imagery than has been found in previous collections.
Exhibitions are currently being scheduled for China, the United States, and Europe. In June, Ibañez presented the first photo of the series, “Disengaged,” in New York. The photo has also been released in India and Berlin within art compilations.
Generation Y will be the third photo collection released by Ibañez. The other two, EneME and The Leftlovers, have received acclaim from across the globe. EneME has been released in 22 countries, and the ebook version of The Leftlovers topped iBookstore sales charts last year. The photos from these series have also been included in exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and the US, and Generation Y seems to already be receiving the same eager reception.
The book release of Generation Y will be available as an ebook from Apple’s iBookstore as well as in hardcover from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other bookstores.
Pere Ibañez comes from a background in filmmaking and originally drew inspiration for his style from horror films. In the same way, Ibañez uses bold colors and graphic imagery to magnify the drama of each scene. Ibañez currently lives in Beijing, China, where he takes most of his photos.
