SBW changes TAB odds on league while possible future boxing foe Parker a huge favourite against the “King”
The late inclusion of Sonny Bill Williams into the Kiwi team for the Rugby League World Cup has caused an odds re-think
by TAB bookies.
Williams originally decided not to play in the tournament and at that stage the Kiwis were priced at $4.00 to retain
their title. But today’s decision by Williams to make himself available has seen the odds tighten to $3.75.
“The man is a winner, everything he gets involved in, with few exceptions, is successful”, says the TAB’s rugby league
bookie Kevin Gutschlag.
It’s hard to deny that claim with SBW now having won NRL titles with the Bulldogs and Roosters, a Rugby World Cup with
the All Blacks, a Super rugby title with the Chiefs, and the New Zealand heavyweight boxing title.
“We simply can’t ignore his presence at this tournament and we had to make a price change as a result”, Mr Gutschlag
added.
Meanwhile, heavyweight prospect Joseph Parker – and possible future foe of Williams – remains an overwhelming $1.05
favourite to overcome “King” Afa Tatupu ($7.50) tomorrow night in Auckland. The TAB bookies believe that Parker will end
the fight very early in the piece with rounds one and two the most favoured.
