Juice Bar legends televised concerts announced

Two very special New Zealand songwriters – Greg Johnson and James Reid – are being honoured as part of a series of intimate showcase concerts at Juice Bar in Parnell.

Johnson and Reid are the first two Juice Bar Legends announced, with another sensational second line-up to be revealed soon.

Extremely limited tickets will be available via Ticketmaster and Real Groovy for the following two events:

James Reid (Feelers): Friday November 15 (tickets on sale Wednesday October 9th)
Greg Johnson & special guests: Friday November 22 (tickets on-sale Tuesday October 8th).

As an added bonus for fans across the country, the concerts will be recorded and broadcast on Juice TV and J2.

Juice TV’s Dan Wrightson says the special concerts are a chance for NZ’s Original Music TV network and the public to pay tribute to some of our best and most enduring talent, and enjoy some great nights along the way.

“It’s a joy to be able to celebrate these guys and their wonderful songs, which are the heart and soul of the country’s musical consciousness. Best of all, we’ll be capturing them and the magic they make for all time at a venue we know so well.”

“From car radios and TVs, to rock venues and rugby club rooms across the country – we’ve been singing, laughing and crying with these songs all our lives. And the camaraderie of enjoying the music live in the Juice Bar environment will be something to treasure.”

“The songs alone are the chapter and verse of the Great Kiwi Songbook - Venus, Isabelle, Liberty, Pressure Man, Don’t Wait Another Day, Stand Up, Save Yourself – just too many to list.

“Kiwis have shouted and sung from roof-tops around the world the songs of The Feelers and Greg Johnson. With new line-ups and killer songs from past to present, these shows are going to be highlights of our spring and summer.”

Wrightson says the Juice team is already working on follow-up concert dates, with legendary female and indie acts to the fore, and special international legends thrown in for good measure. “This is why we exist – Juice TV & Juice Bar are both integral spokes in the New Zealand Music wheel, and celebrating that fills all our hearts with a sense of immense pride.”

More on the line-up:

James Reid fans can expect to hear Feelers favourites along with songs from his soon-to-be-released first solo album. From 1998’s Supersystem to 2011’s Hope Nature Forgives, Reid has consistently delivered hit after hit. Songs like Pressure Man, Venus, Communicate, As Good As It Gets, Stand Up and One World – Reid has generated a loyal legion of fans up and down New Zealand.

Greg Johnson has sung and written a string of unforgettable songs - helping him net two NZ Music Awards and eight top 20 albums. Isabelle, Liberty (APRA Silver Scroll winner), Don’t Wait Another Day, Save Yourself, Now The Sun is Out, and so many more. Greg is based in California and regularly returns to NZ - performing across the country with his hugely talented band featuring Wayne Bell, Ben King, Mark Hughes and Lisa Crawley.
