Published: Tue 1 Oct 2013 12:12 PM
After returning to the UK after a two year stint in New Zealand, David Apple is excited to announce the release of his debut album, “Oxford Beat” on November 15th via iTunes, Amazon MP3 and Spotify on House of Tracks records.
Oxford Beatfeatures remixes of UK and  New Zealand indie favourite bands including Autum Splendour, Poppy Tibbets, Lisa Crawley and Cat Venom as well as the David Apple original title track.
A self-confessed and self-labelled “music geek” David started out DJing at the age of 18 in Birmingham playing in pubs and clubs before relocating to Auckland with his kiwi girlfriend, and landing the graveyard shift at famous Auckland indie station 95bFM.
A regular on Auckland’s late night airwaves for 18 months this opportunity lead to meeting some of the stations favourite artists whose tracks all remixed by David feature on the album.
Including songs from Matthew Crawley, Autumn Splendour, Lisa Crawley, and Cat Venom the album also features a cover of ‘Dutty Love’ by Priya Sami of the Sami Sisters singing under the stage name ‘Prididdy’.
The title track of the album ‘Oxford Beat,’ is a David Apple original written in one night on guitar in his Ponsonby flat in 2011.  Its quietly lilting guitar lines are reminiscent of long hot Kiwi summers and the accompanying music video was made by Crooked House Films in Oxford, UK.
