A revamped, reinvigorated competition hits the stage at SKY City Theatre this Saturday October 5.
The extravaganza will feature a fantastic lineup of entertainers including The X-Factor’s Maaka Fiso and Gap 5 along
with one of Australian’ best musical theatre stars Tyran Parke plus from Melboune newcomer Zaverr. Gap 5 will be
releasing their single and performing it for the first time LIVE on the show. Mr Showbiz Tim Beveridge will also take to
the stage
The evening’s entertainment will include a performance by the contestants - choreographed by New Zealand's top
choreographer, Emma McClachlan from X Factor,
Contestants will also parade in Thai gowns and evening gowns.
It is going to be a night to remember so DON'T MISS THE MOMENT.
Veteran TV producer and the new executive director of Miss Universe NZ Nigel Godfrey and his team have completely
reworked the format of the iconic beauty competition.
Gone from the stage are the bikinis and the high heels the swimwear section was filmed on the beach in Thailand along
with an amazing calendar that goes on sale on Saturday.
The awkward question and answer section is no more as the women have been followed by TV cameras for the final weeks and
that is how the public are going to get to know them.
And getting to know them is important - as 50% of the judging is made up of a public vote. "This is the first time this
has happened and we are very excited about engaging the public in this way".
All of the proceeds from the text voting goes to the chosen charity, Variety the Children's Charity.
In addition all of the women have been involved in an Entrepreneurial Challenge for the last 6 weeks, their task to
raise
as much money as they can for both their journey and Variety, the total raised is now running into tens of thousands of
dollars.
"Our aim all along was to remove the previous financial barriers to entry that entrants faced, (previously women paid up
to $3000 simply to join the competition - the entry fee this year was $10).
and to make the contestant's journey, exciting, enriching and enlightening."

audience"
Hundreds of women first applied online and then 80 were selected for regional bootcamps. From there 20 finalist were
selected, all of whom then flew to Thailand for the 5 Star finalist's retreat.
"We have travelled the length and breadth of New Zealand in order to find our finalists and we are determined that, not
only will the winner be proud to call herself Miss Universe New Zealand
but that the people of New Zealand will be proud to have her represent them on the Global stage".
