Poor Bellies Make For Rich Minds
Performing Poetry Below the Poverty Line
Live Below the Line are excited to present a night of poetry at The Basement Theatre to wrap up the five day poverty challenge around New Zealand.
Live Below the Line has seen over 1700 individuals unite to raise funds this week by participating in the global poverty challenge - to eat and drink for as little as 2.25 dollars a day for five days.
The spoken-word works of ten poets will salivate the minds and renovate the imaginations of Auckland audiences on Monday, 30th September at the BASEMENT THEATRE.
POETS BELOW THE LINE is a creative collaboration, mining poets from all over our local scene to make global poverty speak. Some hail from youth-project Rising Voices, others from acclaimed performers South Auckland Poets Collective, more from performance poetry collective The Literatti and others are fiercely independent voices.
All are united by a single mantra: to embody a creative response to the global poverty crisis, by challenging themselves to make poetry from below the line.
Spoken Word is a growing fever that has been getting poets and audiences alike hot under the collar across New Zealand. Now, the finest of our local voices join forces to endure poor bellies and force the rich matter of their minds into action.
Expect an incredible night of poetry below the line.
