MOTAT Turns Back Time These School Holidays
MOTAT Turns Back Time These School Holidays
Kids and families will love stepping into the shoes of Aucklanders from the 1900s at MOTAT these school holidays with a Victorian themed experience, ‘Turn Back Time’.
Centred on what life was like in the 1900’s, ‘Turn Back Time’ will coincide with the Auckland Heritage Festival from 28 September – 13 October and invites visitors to experience a day in the life of both upper and lower society classes living in the 1900s.
‘Turn Back Time’ will come alive through four themes; a day at school, a day at play, a day at home and a day to pray. Kids and adults alike will enjoy interacting with a real School Master in the historic school house, and learning about church practices with a minister in the Chapel.
Activities include Victorian Games on the village green such as giant chess, stilt walking, horse and carriage rides and coconut shy – a game that lets children test their aiming skills with coconuts as targets. A family-friendly Punch and Judy show will run on the hour, daily from 11 – 4pm.
As an additional feature to the ‘Turn Back Time Holiday Experience’, MOTAT has partnered up with Disney. Just in time for the cinema release of Disney’s movie ‘Planes’, MOTAT’s Aviation Display Hall will offer interactive ‘Planes’ activity stations and give kids the chance to meet the planes from the film in real-life!
Snippets of the film will play while kids are encouraged to join the dots, colour-in and enter competitions to win a major prize pack including a Wii console, ‘Planes’ Wii game and some fabulous Disney ‘Planes’ prizes, plus 10 runner up prize packs.
