Play the WICKED game to win a weekend in Auckland

Kiwis have the chance to win a holiday in Auckland with an innovative game based on the Broadway musical WICKED, launched today by ATEED (Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development).

The fun competition is an interactive online game with characters from the spellbinding production of WICKED – which has its gala opening tomorrow at The Civic and will run until 24 November.

Through the game, people are encouraged to go on a journey around the Auckland region and at each stop match the destination with a WICKED prop, including a broom and jewelled shoes.

Players select the right items and go in the draw to win a relaxing and indulgent ‘Glinda’ package or an adventurous ‘Elphaba’ package. Both prizes include return flights courtesy of Air New Zealand’s grabaseat, two nights’ accommodation at CityLife Auckland, tickets to the hit musical and an Auckland activity.

ATEED General Manager Destination & Marketing Rachael Carroll says the competition is an excellent way to celebrate the arrival of Broadway’s biggest blockbuster musical.

“WICKED is the third international musical to visit our city in the past two years, which is testament to Auckland’s growing reputation for attracting high calibre international productions,” she says.

“These shows typically draw domestic visitors to our city and make a strong contribution to growing our visitor nights and pumping money into our local economy.”
