Radio station pick up to 22,000 for Nelson singer-songwriter
Second single release takes international radio station pick up to 22,000 for Nelson singer-songwriter
Nelson-based singer-songwriter Bryce Wastney has released his new single “You Got Me” on iTunes today (19 September) taking the combined radio station pick up of his latest two singles to 22,000.
“You Got Me” is the second single to come out of Bryce’s deal with USA label ‘Musik and Film’. 'Musik and Film' are a group of veteran producers and professional musicians who have worked with some of the biggest bands on the planet over the past four decades. The label distributes music via a radio promotion service that reaches 50,000 radio stations around the world.
President of Musik and Film, Stephen Wrench said that the label has high hopes for Bryce’s new track based on the success of “Dead Man Walking” which was released in May. "We were delighted to see “Dead Man Walking” reach number two on the New Zealand iTunes country chart and achieve great pick up from our radio station distribution network,” said Stephen. “We’d love to see “You Got Me” go all the way and get to number one. It’s got all the ingredients of a hit – a catchy hook, an inspiring message and great production.”
Early signs are good, with many radio stations having already picked up the single via Musik and Film’s distribution network. “Collectively "You Got Me" and "Dead Man Walking" have been picked up by more than 22,000 radio stations worldwide and the numbers are climbing each day,” says Bryce. “It's exciting to watch Musik and Film's radio promotion machine kick into gear!”
After the release of “Dead Man Walking” Bryce featured on TVNZ’s “Seven Sharp” and was offered a guitar endorsement from Martin Guitars.
“I was really excited to see that people were enjoying the track,” said Bryce. “The new single “You Got Me” is about how great it is to have someone who is right behind you – which is kind of how I feel after the response to the first single. I hope people will download the song and get humming it.”
Bryce is currently in the middle of a national “Songbook and Six String” tour with Paul Ubana Jones. Bryce and Paul have already performed in Auckland, New Plymouth, Tauranga, Hamilton, Wellington, and Nelson – recording a live DVD of their Nelson concert. Tour dates in Dunedin, Wanaka and Waimate remain before the final gig of the tour in Christchurch on 28 September.
After the tour Bryce will record and release his third single of the year before touring in Australia.
