Cloudy Bay Partners with Celebrity Chef

Cloudy Bay Partners with Celebrity Chef to Unveil Summer’s Finest Vintage

Cloudy Bay has partnered with celebrity chef Mark Southon to celebrate the first of the season release of the 2013 Sauvignon Blanc.

An outstanding summer with excellent growing conditions has enabled Cloudy Bay winemakers to craft New Zealand’s most precious summer flavours into the new Sauvignon Blanc 2013 vintage.

Top chef Mark Southon has been asked to capture the essence of this First of the Season vintage in a dish created on a single spoon, based only on the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2013 tasting notes. The official public launch date for the new vintage is 1st of October. The challenge for Mark Southon is to create a dish matched to the sauvignon blanc without having tasted it.

“It will be an intriguing challenge,” says Cloudy Bay wine maker Nick Lane, “zesty lime and grapefruit aromas are the first to emerge from the nose of our 2013 sauvignon blanc followed by nectarine and lemongrass tones. The palate is fresh and focused with ripe citrus, stonefruit and mineral notes.”

Cloudy Bay senior brand manager Rai Banbury says, “Mark is extremely talented and we are waiting with anticipation to see what type of first of the season food pairing he creates…we’re looking forward to enjoying it with a glass of the new Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2013”.

Select restaurants nationwide will be taking part in a Cloudy Bay First of the Season 2013 Sauvignon Blanc event, offering a glass of the new vintage with the recipe creation by Mark Southon from mid October onwards.
