RODGER FOX CELBRATES IN BEST WAY POSSIBLE
September 16, 2013
New Zealand jazz supremo, Rodger Fox, is celebrating the 40th anniversary of his iconic big band in the best way possible.
He’s touring New Zealand with his big band in September and October this year, stopping off in seven major centres including Nelson and Christchurch, where he was born.
Bookings are open for Rodger Fox, the Wellington Jazz Orchestra and international artists, world acclaimed bass trombonist, Bill Reichenbach, powerhouse trumpeter, Jon Papenbrook, who’s played lead trumpet for everyone from Aerosmith to Frank Sinatra and star of the World Blues Revue, Chris Cain.
“These are legendary artists at the top of their game, the best in the world with their respective instruments,” Rodger Fox says.
“Their willingness to come here from busy schedules in the United States shows their respect for the Big Band and their desire to take part in these anniversary concerts.”
As an added bonus all funds raised will go towards Rodger’s ultimate goal. Next year he’s planning to take the big band to the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and stopover in England to record at the famous Abbey Road Studios.
The Rodger Fox Big Band will perform in Christchurch at the Christ’s College Auditorium on October 27 and the Nelson School of Music, on October 28.
