Jim Beam Homegrown… More Stages and More Bands!
After 6 consecutive sell outs, Jim Beam Homegrown returns to the Wellington Waterfront on February 15th 2014. True to
form, next year’s Homegrown promises to be bigger and better, with 8 stages, over 60 acts and significantly more ‘free
to the public’ entertainment. The first announcement gives a hint of just how massive this beast will be!
Crowd favourites, Six60 return to headline the Dub & Roots stage alongside The Black Seeds, Sons of Zion, Ladi6 and DJ Sir-vere. Three major acts will round off a who’s who
of Kiwi roots and reggae.
The Rock stage brings Blacklistt to the spotlight armed with their new album and a well-known back catalogue. The
Feelers, Opshop, Villainy and Head like a Hole are also in the 1st announcement with four acts still to be released.
Smashproof and @Peace join Awa, PNC & Pieter T and the gold and platinum selling Savage on the Pop and RnB stage. Dane Rumble will add his futuristic blend
of electro pop and four more acts will complete the stage.
The Red Bull Sound Lab showcases a raw, collaborative format. This year’s line-up includes the monster sound of
Beastwars, Red Bull Thre3style champ, DJ Spell and the Flash Harry All-Star Jam (aka Barnaby Weir from The Black Seeds).
With a mash up from Wellington’s Thomas Oliver & Louis Baker and an acoustic offering from Tiki Taane & Jayson Norris(fresh off their 2013 sell-out tour), it reads like a festival in itself but it is just a taster of what’s
to come.
The Lipton Ice Tea Electronic stage brings a club atmosphere to the Waterfront. State of Mind are armed and ready for
the closing set, The Upbeats will dish out the d-floor funk and a DJ battle will be waged between the legendary P Money
and Dick Johnson. Fresh to the bill and completing the first announcement are Please Please and George FM’s Aroha, who
was recently named Metro Mag’s Club DJ of the Year. The final 3 acts will offer even more to the kaleidoscope of current
dance culture.
A new inclusion this year is the free to the public ‘Locally Sourced’ stage in Frank Kitts Park. The impressive
collection of local talent already boasts up and coming stars, The Dig, Phoebe Hurst, Totems, Vanessa Stacey and Benny
Tipene of X-Factor fame. The Lagoon will have more free entertainment including the revamped Urban stage, a new Buskers
stage and a gourmet food and hospitality hub.
Jim Beam Homegrown will be a new beast in 2014. There are plenty of surprises to come and another major line-up
announcement on October 28th that will add 22 more acts. Every year Jim Beam Homegrown has sold out, so don’t miss out,
go to www.homegrown.net.nz to register for the $79 Earlybird presales on September 16th before the general public get their chance from September
23rd.
