Rialto Distribution confirm that the National
Theatre of Great Britain’s 50th anniversary
celebration National Theatre: 50 Years on
Stage will be shown at local cinemas from November
28. From The History Boys, to Antony and
Cleopatra, this will be a thrilling evening of live
performance and rare glimpses from the archive, featuring
many celebrated actors who have performed on the National
Theatre’s stages over the past five decades.
Directed by Nicholas Hynter, the cast includes Olivier Award winner Simon Russell Beale, Tony and Olivier Award winner Frances de la Tour, Tony and Academy Award winner Judi Dench, Tony Award winner and Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes, Olivier Award winner Michael Gambon, Tony and Olivier Award winner Derek Jacobi, Olivier Award winner Alex Jennings, Olivier Award winner Rory Kinnear, Olivier Award winner Adrian Lester, Academy, Tony & Olivier Award winner Maggie Smith, with more to be announced.
Prior to the release of National Theatre: 50 Years on Stage, is the acclaimed National Theatre production of Shakespeare’s Othello, with Adrian Lester in the title role and Rory Kinnear as Iago, from October 17 – November 20. The Times of London called the production “A breathtaking show of emotional firepower. Following this Kenneth Branagh returns to the stage for his first Shakespearean role in over a decade, taking the title role in Macbeth, with Alex Kingston (Dr. Who, ER) as Lady Macbeth. National Theatre Live’s Macbeth, will be shown in cinemas from November 14 - November 27.
