World War II heroes honoured in Khandallah
World War II heroes honoured
Thirty three Khandallah soldiers who died in the last world war have been remembered on a World War Two honours board in the newly refurbished Khandallah Town Hall.
During the unveiling on Saturday, ward councillor John Morrison said when the World War One honours board was restored, it became apparent that those Khandallah lads who fell 30 years later during the 1939-45 war should also be recognised and their names now flank the original memorial board.
Brian Howard, speaking on behalf of the families, read the short and chilling telegram his family twice received to notify that his two brothers had been killed in action.
In what could be described as the last post in the renovation of the Khandallah Town Hall, Councillor, and mayoral candidate, John Morrison, unveiled the World War Two honours board at a ceremony held in the hall over the weekend. (Saturday 7th September).
