TV3 Announces People’s Choice Award for ‘the Block NZ’


TV3 is inviting viewers to reward their favourite The Block NZ team in the inaugural People’s Choice Award.

Voting is now open and the public are able to vote once per day for Alisa and Koan, Pete and Andy, Alice and Caleb, or Loz and Tom for the next seven weeks. At stake is the All-New Mazda 6; the winners of The People’s Choice Award will take home the car they drove during filming of the hit series.

To vote, viewers simply visit TV3.co.nz/theblock or click the tab at Facebook.com/theblockTV3, answer a question from the show, and vote for their favourite team. Viewers can vote once per day, and every vote goes into a weekly draw to win exclusive The Block NZ prize packs. One lucky viewer will win the ultimate money-can’t-buy fan experience, including a trip to Auckland and VIP tickets to the LIVE Auction Finale.

The People’s Choice Award does not affect the winners of The Block NZ, who will again be the team whose property sells for the most over reserve on auction night. In 2012, Libby and Ben walked away with a life-changing $237,000.

TV3 Head of Factual Programming, Sue Woodfield says: “The People’s Choice adds a great new dimension to this season of The Block NZ. We know everyone’s passionate about the teams they support, and this is a chance to ensure your favourites don’t go home empty handed. After all, who knows what will happen on auction night?”

The Block NZ launched as the #1 show on television in the all-important 25-54 demographic (week 24, 25-54 average rating), and is TV3’s biggest show of 2013 in this demographic. To date, 1.87 million viewers have tuned into the hit series (5+ cume).

The Block NZ Open Homes have been announced for Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October, and fans can meet some of the stars of the show this weekend at the Auckland Home Show, with co-host Shannon Ryan MC-ing a session featuring 2012 winners Libby and Ben Crawford, Building Supervisor Peter Wolfkamp, and Judges Janice Kumar-Ward and Jeremy Hansen at 1.30pm this Saturday.
