Dates Announced For 2013 Vodafone NZ Music Awards
Mark November 21 in the diary
The dates for the 48th annual Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards have been announced with the big night itself moving to a later slot in November.
The 2013 programme officially kicks off on October 22 with the finalists’ announcement event. November plays host to the Critics’ Choice Prize showcase event and the biggest night in Kiwi Music itself – The Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards – is on Thursday November 21.
The Awards are once again being hosted at Auckland’s Vector Arena.
Damian Vaughan, Chief Executive of Recorded Music NZ, says he is looking forward to his first-ever awards at the helm of Recorded Music NZ.
“Following on from a very successful 2012 Awards, Recorded Music NZ is thrilled to be presenting the 48th annual Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards,” says Vaughan.
“There have been a number of phenomenal releases in a wide range of genres this year. We’ve seen the nominations coming through and we’re looking forward to unveiling the finalists – which in my opinion represent the full spectrum of musical talent here in New Zealand.”

• Recipient of Highest Selling NZ Single, Highest Selling NZ Album, Radio Airplay Record of the Year, International Achievement and the People’s Choice awards announced
The big winners at last year’s Awards were Kimbra and Six60, with The Naked and Famous and Kimbra taking out International Achievement Awards.
The 48th annual Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards will be broadcast on FOUR on the night.
The Tuis presented at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards 2013 ceremony are for:
Album of the Year; Single of the Year; Best Group; Best Male Solo Artist; Best Female Solo Artist; Breakthrough Artist of the Year; , Highest Selling NZ Album; Highest Selling NZ Single; Radio Airplay Award; Best Music Video; Best Rock Album; Best Pop Album, Best Alternative Album, Best Urban/Hip Hop Album; Best Electronica Album; Best Roots Album; Best Maori Album; Best Gospel/Christian Album; Best Classical Album; People’s Choice Award, International Achievement Award, The Legacy Award.
No finalists are announced for the Highest Selling NZ Single, Highest Selling NZ Album or Radio Airplay Awards.
The International Achievement and the Legacy Awards are judged by the Recorded Music NZ board and awarded at the Board’s discretion. No finalists are announced for these categories.
