Wellington SuperFans prove passion and win the ultimate Vodafone Warriors experience
Two mates and a couple from Wellington won the ultimate weekend to Auckland to watch the Vodafone Warriors vs. Canberra Raiders, after proving to be the team’s biggest fans in a Vodafone competition.
Ahead of the Vodafone Warriors’ last home game on Saturday, Vodafone asked ZM listeners to share a picture of themselves showing why they were the biggest fan and explain why they deserved a spot on the ultimate Vodafone Supporters’ Bench.
Kelila and Michael Hollis were thrilled to be told they were winners – and to find out they’d be watching the Vodafone Warriors’ last home game, centre field, from the comfort of a lazy boy!
Mum and student Kelila says they couldn’t believe their luck. “My husband introduced me to the Vodafone Warriors on our first date and I’ve been in love with the Warriors (and my husband) ever since. It was the perfect prize for us!
“I’ve bought Vodafone Warriors merchandise every year since that first date and have a real collection now. I wear my jersey every time the boys play. I’m always yelling at the screen, so to be able to get to Auckland and do that from the best seats was a dream,” she adds.
Die-hard fan Liam McCarton, says winning is payback for years of faithful support. “My mates and I do a roadie to Auckland every year to see the Vodafone Warriors, so to win a trip and feel the adrenaline from the best seats in the house, for their last home game, was karma.
“I’ve been a huge Vodafone Warriors fan since I was a kid. I never miss a game; I’ve even missed friends’ birthdays to catch the boys on TV!” he said.
Winners received flights and accommodation to Auckland, a trip to the stadium in a Hummerzine, a meet and greet with the Vodafone Warriors, behind the scene tours, customised jerseys, and the best seats in the house – with special SKY replays and food service from the comfort of a lazy boy.
