New Zealand Fashion Week 2013

New Zealand Fashion Week 2013

Fashion Files 05
New Zealand Fashion Week starts on Monday with delegates and media from New Zealand and around the world coming to see more than 60 of our most innovative designers show and exhibit their collections across NZ Fashion Week and NZ Fashion Weekend.

Last year more than 30,000 people flocked to see runway shows, beauty and lifestyle seminars and to soak up the ambience and glamour of New Zealand Fashion Week. There are still some great seats left to Designer Selection shows and some exciting group and designer shows at NZ Fashion Weekend.

Here are a few places to check out if you want to get your friends together and see some pop up bars and sample some prestigious brands in a buzzing environment:

The Bombay Sapphire Bar on the ground floor will be showcasing its Spring/Summer ‘13 Collection at New Zealand Fashion Week. The collection has been created by cocktail genius Dickie Cullimore who has been inspired by New Zealand’s fresh and lively summer. The collection explores classic gin cocktails with a contemporary twist and is bursting with seasonal flavours.

If you like to support New Zealand winemakers you can sample our finest wines in the Tohu Lounge upstairs. And if you are the designated driver or believe that beauty starts from the inside out there is a free refill station for water bottles thanks to Brita in the Exhibition Showcase area.

TAKE NOTE

Access to the Viaduct Events Centre can be a little difficult at the moment due to the Road Works on Halsey St, so if you want to check it out – see the link:

May we suggest parking in the Downtown Carpark and accessing from Te Wero over the Viaduct Bridge straight to the venue.

BMW and the New Generation Competition

BMW is the official vehicle sponsor of New Zealand Fashion Week. They supply their fabulous BMW cars to be part of the NZFW Official Fleet to drive around VIP’s during Fashion Week, making sure they all reach shows and appointments on time. They are also the proud partner of our New Generation Designer competition and runway programme. The three finalists this year are Crooked Seven, Nara Paz and Beverly Riverina, all designed ‘wraps’ for a BMW, which is presently being driven by media and will be part of the fleet for the Week.

BMW will also have presence inside the venue with the “People’s Choice Award” Activation. A large screen display will showcase imagery of each wrapped vehicle on a constant loop. There will also be one garment from each designer on display to demonstrate the connection between the designers’ collection and the decal design on their BMW.

Each ticket to a Fashion Week show enables one vote for their favourite designer. There will be 5000 goodie bags that will contain the BMW/New Gen branded voting chips. These chips then get placed in to perspex boxes and accumulate over the week. By doing this we will create a visual representation of the most popular design.
The New Gen designers showcase their collections in a group show on Thursday 5th September where they are supported by NZFW with stylists, models and show producers. The winner is announced at the New Gen show, and will receive a $5000 grant that could be put towards the NZFW 2014 ‘Contemporary Salon Show’. In addition to the grant the winner will win a BMW X1 to drive for 3 months.

DAVID TRUBRIDGE AT FASHION WEEK 2nd - 8th September

It is with great pleasure that we deepen our relationship with David Trubridge, exhibiting at the upcoming NZ Fashion Week 2013. We'll be offering a sneak peak of Pequod, a yet-to-be-released light, and their award winning Manuka contemporary chandelier and screen. These will be seen along with the classic favourite Coral, Snowflake and our Adorn jewellery.

David's trend-defying work seems a natural fit to a fashion-orientated dialogue. Stella McCartney's 2008 window display in Parisian store Printemps featured his lights, while the English high street love affair with Top Shop was treated to an installation with Kate Moss' diffusion line. The Australian luxury brand Oroton also commissioned the company to produce a custom-designed pendant light, to feature throughout their stores.
We're excited about this project, and are sure David’s pieces will only help to 'brighten up' what will already be a spectacular event.
