Forum: Refugee
2pm, Sunday 1 September
Pataka Art + Museum is holding a forum on New Zealand’s Immigration policy, refugee resettlement process and related
issues. A short presentation by a spokesperson from Immigration New Zealand on the Refugee Resettlement Strategy will be
followed by a discussion between the five panellists: Jan Logie, Green List MP and Immigration spokesperson, Murdoch Stevens who initiated the Pataka Refugee exhibition and is currently campaigning to lift the annual refugee quota above 750, Daniel Alvarado, a Colombian refugee who has settled in Porirua, Darien Fenton, Labour List MP and Immigration spokesperson and Heather Opie, Refugee Services volunteer. The panel will be chaired by Pataka’s Bob Maysmor, curator of the Refugee exhibition.

Porirua, featuring music, song, dance, visual arts and craft exhibits.
Art Lover Tour
Friday 13 September
As part of the Art Lover Tour programme supported by the Wellington Regional Amenities Fund and the Friends of Te Papa,
come and see Uku Rere, a survey of five leading Maori ceramic artists. Listen to Rob McLeod talk about his installation Imposters, Aliens and Angels. Hear Joseph Michael discuss Dark Cloud/White Light—an exhibition that uses time-lapse photography to capture a day in 12 dramatic New Zealand landscapes.

Regarding the landscape
3—27 October
To see some dramatic landscapes with a completely different frame of reference, visit Whenua II, recent oil paintings by Pukerua Bay artist, Pauline Morse. Pauline will be showing 10 magnificent new landscapes
capturing her fascination and affection for the hills around Porirua, and some of her much-admired bird paintings.
Opening in Toi Gallery on 3 October.
