Oman-based bride-to-be achieves one last wish to tandem skydive with NZONE Queenstown
An Oman-based bride’s dream came true when she took to the skies above Lake Wakatipu with Queenstown skydive company
NZONE last Friday 23 August.
24-year-old Zainab Kagalwala’s last wish before she moves to India to get married was to complete a tandem skydive,
making it one of her last adventures as a single lady.
Ms Kagalwala was born in Pune, India and has lived most of her life in Muscat, Oman.
Zainab’s father Saifuddin Kagalwala chose NZONE Skydive in Queenstown to fulfil his daughter’s wish having researched
various countries and skydive companies online including Dubai, only a four hour drive from their home in Muscat.
Mr Kagalwala said he wanted “only the best” for his daughter and said that money was “no concern”.
“I looked at Dubai and Spain for skydiving and wanted the best company with no risk - I don’t care about money. I
wouldn’t risk my only daughter’s life with just anybody,” said Mr Kagalwala.
“We researched companies online, looked at videos on YouTube and asked advice of travel companies in Oman. NZONE Skydive
looked the most professional so we decided to come to Queenstown”.
NZONE Skydive Marketing Co-ordinator Ann-Louise Riddell said the team were “stoked” to be part of such a momentous
occasion in someone’s life.
“Of all the things in the world to choose as your last wish before your wedding day, Zainab chose to skydive,” said Ms
Riddell.
“It’s pretty exciting to have been hand-picked from all the possible countries and companies across the globe to make
this amazing dream come true.”
The family’s short trip to New Zealand was solely to bring their daughter to ‘jump’ with NZONE Skydive. They will also
visit Christchurch on the way home via Singapore, but the highlight of the trip? “Purely this (skydiving) – it was the
main objective,” said Ms Kagalwala.
The excited Ms Kagalwala gushed upon landing about her to desire to “go up again”.
“Next time I will go higher though”, said Ms Kagalwala.
Earlier this month Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) released statistics on international visitor numbers and activities
undertaken during their trip, which highlighted that 54,410 international visitors did a skydive while visiting New
Zealand.
In other research conducted by TNZ, Skydiving ranked the highest out of all the top adventure activities undertaken in
New Zealand for satisfaction level. It rated 9.1out of 10 and was equalled only by mountain climbing.
“We’ve long known that people associate Queenstown and New Zealand as THE best place to skydive in the world. The latest
statistics from TNZ and our own research certainly reiterate this,” said Ms Riddell.
“We’re glad to have helped someone’s wish come true yet again.”
