‘Comedy for Cure Kids: Good Sports’ Screens Tomorrow, 7.30pm on TV3
It was one of the television events of 2012. Now Comedy for Cure Kids is back, bringing together world class sports people, the cream of New Zealand comedians, and a raft of local and international celebrities to make Friday, August 23 the funniest night of the year, all for a great cause.
Hosted by Jeremy Corbett and Paul Ego, Comedy for Cure Kids: Good Sports is a night of comedy and entertainment, and the culmination of Cure Kids’ annual Red Nose Day appeal, which raises money for essential medical research into the life-threatening illnesses that affect New Zealand children.
TV3 Head of Drama and Comedy Rachel Jean says the 2013 Comedy for Cure Kids broadcast will be bigger, better and funnier than ever.
“If you thought last year was a magical night of television, tomorrow’s broadcast is shaping up to be even more exceptional. You will laugh a lot, you’ll be moved - and by the end of the broadcast, you’ll be singing along.”
Comedy for Cure Kids: Good Sports will be broadcast LIVE from Auckland’s Q Theatre. Kicking off at 7.30pm on TV3, the night will feature 7 Days and Jono and Ben at Ten specials, as well as a wealth of sports stars, comedians and other celebrities – from the All Blacks to the stars of The X Factor NZ to a special appearance by Flight of the Concords.
Other highlights of the night include: comedians and sports stars going head-to-head in a series of sports-related challenges in The Sports Factor, hosted by Dominic Bowden; Jono Pryor, Ben Boyce and Guy Williams revealing what really happened on their Invercargill to Kaitaia cycle race; the All Blacks’ senses of humour are put to the test in an audacious prank; a special IceTV reunion brings Jon Bridges, Nathan Rarere and Petra Bagust back together; as well as updates on the work carried out by Cure Kids, and the fundraising tally.
In 2012, New Zealanders tuned into the broadcast in droves, $1,302,849 was raised for medical research for New Zealand children, and Red Nose Day song Feel Inside (and Stuff Like That), by super group ‘Flight of the Concords and Friends’ became the first digitally available recording to go gold (7500 copies) within 48 hours of release.
Don’t miss Comedy for Cure Kids: Good Sports, Friday 23 August at 7.30pm on TV3.
