Will you shake a bucket for Blind Week with Judy?

Will you shake a bucket for Blind Week with Judy?

This Blind Week, Judy Hale is urging Kiwis to join her and hundreds of others on the streets to collect vital funds for the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind (RNZFB).

Running from 29 October to 4 November, Blind Week is one of the RNZFB’s main opportunities to generate awareness and support for its cause.

Judy lost her sight in an accident in 1985 and has been fundraising for the RNZFB for the last 27 years.

“Without the support of the RNZFB and Guide Dog Services, I wouldn’t be able to be as involved in the community as I am. Collecting for Blind Week is a wonderful opportunity to meet people and give them an insight into blindness,” says Judy.

“We have wonderful support from the Cambridge community. I am very happy to be able to be involved and give back to my community.”

RNZFB Chief Executive Sandra Budd says volunteers across the country are needed to organise a local street appeal or sign up to collect.

Funds raised from Blind Week will help the RNZFB continue to provide training and essential services that help New Zealanders who are blind or have low vision to live life to the full. We rely heavily on the generosity of the public. So the more collectors we have on the streets, the better!” Sandra says.

To register as a RNZFB street appeal coordinator or collector, phone 0800 120 254 or sign up online at www.blindweek.org.nz
