Goddess & Storyteller featuring Nicolas Isherwood

Goddess & Storyteller featuring Nicolas Isherwood

GODDESS AND STORYTELLER
Sun, 1 Sep 2013- 4pm
Hunter Council Chamber
Victoria University, Wellington.

From the concert halls of La Scala and Covent Garden, renowned US bass-baritone Nicholas Isherwood journeys to New Zealand to perform with STROMA in a concert featuring the work of Greek composer IANNIS XENAKIS and Chinese/NZ composer GAO PING.

The raw power of Xenakis's LA DÉESSE ATHENA and KASSANDRA are softened by the vibrant colours and lyrical brilliance of Gao Ping's SHUO SHU REN — THE STORYTELLER. Composer-in-Residence Dorothy Ker will also feature with a work for eleven musicians.
A leading master of contemporary vocal repertoire, Isherwood’s recent roles include "Lucifer" in the world premieres of Stockhausen’s Montag, Dienstag, and Freitag from Licht at La Scala and in Donnerstag aus Licht at Covent Garden.
