Tylee Cottage Artist In Residence

Call for Applications

The Sarjeant Gallery Te Whare o Rehua is calling for applications for its Artist in Residence programme at Tylee Cottage, one of the longest running residencies in the country.

The Tylee Cottage Artist-in-Residence scheme began in Wanganui in 1986, a partnership between the Sarjeant Gallery Te Whare o Rehua, the Wanganui District Council and the QEII Arts Council of New Zealand.

Currently the programme is managed by the Sarjeant Gallery and funded by the Wanganui District Council. The scheme is one of the longest running residency programmes in the country and boasts an impressive alumni of artists, many of whom have gone on to have illustrious careers. The residency plays a vital role in the Gallery's exhibition and publishing programme.

The Gallery is calling for applications from artists who are wishing to undertake residencies of between 4 - 6 months at the Cottage from January 2014 - July 2015.

In early 2014, the Sarjeant Gallery will close in preparation for earthquake strengthening as well as redevelopment of its Queen's Park site and move to an interim site on Taupo Quay.

The Gallery will be maintaining its exhibition programme in the temporary location which will offer some exciting new spaces for exhibiting.

Applications close on 4 October, 2013

For further information contact the Gallery on 06 349 0506.
