epay Silver Fern Rally Back Down South for 2014
The fourth edition of the epay Silver Fern Rally will return to the South Island for its next event to be held in November 2014.
Organisers are pleased to confirm that the marathon length international rally, will start in the picturesque interisland town of Picton on Saturday afternoon, and finish seven days later on the waterfront at the Mountain and Lake Resort of Queenstown.
The epay Silver Fern Rally 2014 has now been confirmed and calendared by MotorSport New Zealand, for the week of November 8th – 15th 2014.
The event which caters for Historic and modified two wheel drive vehicles only will consist of around 1100+ kms of competitive special stages, with an all new route, using many new roads, as well as some old favourites, but run in different formats to the past events where possible.
The New Zealand event which is held bi-annually continues to grow, both in local as well as international popularity. “We again surveyed the events past competitors, and they responded with the majority sending us a strong message indicating more of the same.” said chairman of Silver Fern Rally Management, Hamilton’s Gary Smith.
Organisers will now begin the process of planning the complex rally route and confirming the overnight stops. This will entail meeting with, and working closely with, Sponsors, Car Clubs, Local Councils, land owners and community groups.
Organising Committee Chairman Timaru’s Carl Rabbidge said “We can’t emphasise enough that without the support of all these people an event of this size could never happen. We are fortunate to have built up a very high level of confidence and support down south in the past and with a positive attitude and everyone working together we are confident we can produce another successful event.”
