EasiYo Tactix Signings

MEDIA RELEASE – EASIYO TACTIX SIGNINGS
Date: August 15, 2013

Mainland Netball Zone and the Tactix franchise are delighted to announce a number of key signings for the 2014 ANZ Championship season.

Silver Fern and experienced Tactix Captain Anna Thompson has re-signed with the team for the 2014 season. Thompson has played 75 matches for the Tactix and 11 Test Caps for the Silver Ferns after making her international debut in 2009. The versatile shooter and mid-courter can slot into a myriad of positions making her an invaluable member of the team.

Also signing on for another ANZ Championship season with the Tactix is former Silver Fern Julianna Naoupu. The 23 year old shooter has been a part of the ANZ Championships since it began in 2008 and made the move to Christchurch last season after playing for the Southern Steel and Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic.

Naoupu will link with current NZ U21 World Youth Netball Championship players Sophia Fenwick and Zoe Walker. Walker made her debut for the Tactix in 2013, and was recently named ‘Tactix Rookie of the Year’. She was rewarded with selection into the National Accelerant squad after an outstanding debut season and at just 19 has a promising netball career in front of her.

England international Jade Clarke fills one of the two import selections for the Tactix and returns to the franchise for the second consecutive year. Clarke’s speed throughout the court, feeding accuracy and determination makes her a major asset for the Tactix line up.

And former NZU21 and Fastnet Ferns international Hayley Saunders will make the move to the Tactix for the 2014 season after becoming a replacement player in the Northern Mystics in 2013.

Primarily a defensive player, Saunders will bolster the mid-court stocks for the Tactix in 2014. Negotiations are still in progress with a number of other players.

The Tactix host the opening match of the 2014 ANZ Championship season on March 1st at CBS Canterbury Arena in Christchurch.
