TOPIC: 12TH Latin American Film Festival
The 12th edition of the Latin American Film Festival (LAFF) will be held in several art centres and academic institutions throughout New Zealand between August and November 2013.
A selection of ten contemporary films from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela will be available free of charge to the public.
The Festival includes a wide range of genres, topics and styles, providing an opportunity for the community and movie lovers to immerse themselves into the cultural and social aspects of each of the participating countries.
In Wellington, the festival will be hosted, with the support of the Wellington City Council and Te Papa, at Soundings Theatre, from 22 to 31 August. For the first time, it will also travel to Upper Hutt, at Expressions Arts & Entertainment Centre, from 5 to 8 September.
The festival will also take place in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton and Palmerston North. In addition to the free screenings, LAFF 2013 will feature two “fiestas” in Wellington organized by community groups. The full electronic programme is available on the Festival’s Facebook page:
vLAFF is a yearly not-for-profit event, organized by the Embassies of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Mexico and Spain in Wellington, with the participation of guest Embassies of Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay & Venezuela in Australia.
