Fly My Pretties Homeland Tour - Concept Announcement
Throughout the decade that Fly My Pretties has regularly united, the collective has worked and collaborated with a range of creatives and organisations - and the upcoming Homeland Tour marks a new relationship bound to lead to exciting, creative and inspired expression.
With great pride we announce that Fly My Pretties will be partnering with the Archives New Zealand and the Alexander Turnbull Library, National Library of New Zealand – both who will be providing the collective (and their visuals team) with precious archival footage and images, much of which has rarely been seen. Excitingly, Archives New Zealand footage includes historically significant films from the iconic, National Film Unit.
Traversing from the tip to the tale of New Zealand on the Homeland Tour, the theme of each performance will celebrate the journey across Aotearoa - delving into historic stories taken from some of the regions the collective visits, while looking at the important challenges our burgeoning country faces now and is set to in the future.
Selected archival films and images from our media partners will be innovatively integrated on stage and woven into the performance of each song to tell a unique and intimate story of our nation.
The Fly My Pretties 2013 cast includes: Anika Moa, Mel Parsons, Ria Hall, Kara Gordon, Louis McDonald (Five Mile Town), Mark Vanilau, Ryan Prebble (The Nudge), Shaun Blackwell (John The Baptist) & members of The Black Seeds: Barnaby Weir, Jarney Murphy, Mike Fabulous, Nigel Patterson.

The Homeland Tour will see Fly My Pretties hark back to their musical roots with a sound reminiscent of their first two live albums -Live at Bats andThe Return Of – an unashamedly kiwi sound stepped in folk, roots, soul and rock.
Fly My Pretties are travelling to 18 towns to perform and record their new album plus the classics. Expect an intimate production that will uniquely reflect upon the heritage and heartland of New Zealand.
Tickets are on sale now.
