Chiefs Celebrated With Victory Parade
6 August 2013
The central city was buzzing today as hundreds of Hamiltonians came in to the central city to celebrate the 2013 Investec Super Rugby champions the Chiefs.
The victory parade saw the Chiefs travel along Victoria Street to Garden Place for the official city congratulations and celebrations.
As part of the celebrations, the Chiefs players and management team were recognised as “Outstanding Achievers” and were each awarded with Hamilton City medals by Hamilton Mayor Julie Hardaker.
Mayor Hardaker said the medals were a special way to mark and celebrate the team’s fantastic achievements.
“What the team has achieved is outstanding and to say that Hamiltonians are proud of the Chiefs’ success is an understatement! We couldn’t have asked for more than a back-to-back title win on our home ground.”
“This is a win not only our city and the Waikato region, but the whole country can be proud of.”
“Today was an absolutely amazing way to celebrate with the Chiefs, to show the city’s support and to say goodbye to some of the players who will be ending their season with the franchise” added Mayor Hardaker.
