Chance to Test Not-So-Secret Weapons
AUGUST 6, 2013: How about a free ride on a dirt bike, with the dirt thrown in at no cost too?
It almost sounds too good to be true, but KTM New Zealand is pleased to announce its latest Dirt Days tour of the
country will be starting very soon, a fantastic chance for riders to get to test the not-so-secret weapons of the
off-road champions.
Here is the opportunity to try out some of the brand new 2014-model range, motorcycles that have just been released in
the past couple of weeks, and perhaps start you on your way down the same pathway to success that Kiwi internationals
such Auckland’s Chris Birch has been headed in recent years.
Birch rode a KTM 350 XCF to win the New Zealand Enduro Championships outright in June, wrapping up the title with a
round to spare.
Birch also extended his lead in the Expert over-300cc four-stroke class to a massive 24 points over Tauranga's Reece
Burgess (KTM 450 EXC) and, barring a massive disaster at the final round near Tokoroa next month, Birch should collect
the class win as well this season.
KTM New Zealand general manager Patrick Stafford said that, while there can’t be a demo for every model of the range –
because there are now more than 30, just in off road – the eight bestsellers will be on show during the upcoming Dirt
Days tour.
From the enduro side, there will be the 200 XCW, 300 EXC, 350 EXCF and 450 EXC models, all sporting new bodywork for
2014 as well as a wide range of tweaks and updates to keep these models at the top of their game.
From the cross country family, there will be the 250 XC, 300 XC, 250 XCF and New Zealand’s best-selling KTM in the two
years that it has been available, the 350 XCF.
Just like last year, there will be two fleets of bikes in operation during the tour, just to ensure that the entire
country is reached in good time and riders can get ready for the summer.
One fleet will start in Rotorua and make its way north through six dealers, while the other will start in New Plymouth
and make its way south, all the way to Invercargill, passing through seven dealer locations.
“It is set to kick-off on August 17 but I suggest riders who are interested should contact their nearest authorised KTM
dealer for details and exact dates,” said Stafford.
“I’m sure they’ll have an opportunity to ride one or more of these bikes.”
