Let the Gaming Begin at Auckland Armageddon Expo in October
PlayStation 4, XBOX One, Call of Duty Ghosts and World of Tanks are just a few of the exciting gaming releases that will have fans flocking to Auckland’s Armageddon Expo this October 25th – 28th.
Well known for sci-fi, anime and visiting international stars, Armageddon is increasingly being seen by the gaming industry as the place to launch their hottest new titles, just before the busy Christmas period.
“The growth in gaming, plus massive growth in the popularity of sci-fi means this year’s Armageddon will be a truly huge event,” says event organiser William Geradts.
Spanning across the main event floor, the expo includes massive displays from Wargaming, Nintendo, Nerf, Activision, Warner Brothers, Dell Computers, PlayStation and Microsoft, as well as many others, and features exclusive gaming previews and displays.
Alongside gaming, Armageddon this year brings big international names, Billy Boyd, Pippin from The Lord of the Rings; Evanna Lynch, Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series; David Morrissey, The Governor from The Walking Dead; as well as multiple stars from Doctor Who (current series) and Supernatural, with still more to be announced.
“We’re bringing in such a diverse range of guests this year, that we’re expecting an even wider spread of fans than usual,” says Geradts. “There truly is something for everyone,” he says.
The annual Cosplay contest is also one to watch with entrants having worked on their costumes for months in attempt to take out the title. This year a Trans-Tasman grudge match will see the Australian Cosplay winner here to beat the best New Zealand has to offer.
Alongside the big and small screen stars, Cosplay and events, Armageddon also has comic, anime and fantasy names a plenty.
Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will make an appearance as well as Dan Slott, writer of Marvel comic Spiderman, and Armageddon welcomes back Dean Rankine, The Simpsons comic artist.
Geradts is especially looking forward to the annual Burning Man event, which is set to burst into flames on the Friday night.
“The Burning Man just keeps getting better and better with each year, the Pyro Company team have a fantastic new show, so it’s well worth bringing the whole family along,” he says.
Tickets are now on sale at www.iticket.co.nz or see www.armageddonexpo.com for information.
