Winners of the 2013 NZCT Chamber Music Contest

The winners of this year's NZCT Chamber Music Contest are Sollertinsky Trio from Auckland with their performance of Piano Trio No. 2, Mvts 2 and 4 by Shostakovich. Sollertinsky Trio, made up of Ray Ong (violin) from Westlake Boys High School, Mathias Balzat (cello) from Wentworth College and Delvan Lin (piano) from King's College were awarded the top prize of the twelve ensembles who made it through to the National Finals.
As part of their award the Sollertinsky Trio received the James Wallace Arts Trust Prize of $2,000 each.
The winners of the National Award for the Best Performance of a New Zealand Work (in association with SOUNZ and CANZ), Conspiratus from Diocesan School for Girls in Auckland, were presented with their prize after performing their winning piece by David Hamilton as a demonstration group in tonight's concert.
Trio Étoile from Christchurch was awarded the KBB Music Award and William Swan (James Hargest College, Invercargill) and Samuel Broome (Lindisfarne College, Napier) received their awards for winning the senior and junior sections of the Original Composition Section respectively.
In presenting the 2013 New Zealand Community Trust Chamber Music Contest, Chamber Music New Zealand acknowledges major funding from the New Zealand Community Trust and Creative New Zealand.
