Katrina Grant Commits to Haier Pulse for 2014
Captain Katrina Grant has committed to the Haier Pulse for the 2014 ANZ Championship season, having led the team to fifth place in their record-breaking 2013 campaign.
The Silver Ferns defender, who finished the regular season in second place for both intercepts and deflections, was delighted to be returning for her fifth year with the franchise.
“I’m excited to see what 2014 has to bring. It’s really nice to get it done and dusted and I can now concentrate on the international season”, she explained.
Haier Pulse Chairman Ian Collier said that securing Grant was one of the top priorities for his board as they look to build on their recent success.
“Katrina has proved once again that she is one of the very best defenders in the world and ensuring that she stayed with us at the Haier Pulse was a crucial part of our planning for next year.
“The way she fought through the pain barrier to lead the team to five straight wins in the second part of the season, despite being unable to train because of her foot injury, was truly inspirational. That is the kind of commitment that helps to create a winning culture and we are looking forward to building on that next year.
“With Robyn confirmed as coach, Katrina returning and the signing of Irene van Dyk, we are continuing to formalise agreements with the rest of the squad.”
