Auckland takes on Brisbane in upcoming roller derby clash
The days are short, the nights are long but the fastest game on eight wheels is once again sure to set the City of Sails on fire on August 24, when Auckland Roller Derby takes on the might of the Northern Brisbane Rollers.
Auckland Roller Derby has had a cracker season so far. The women in blue and white have beaten teams from Christchurch and Palmerston North, and fought valiantly against the victorious Victorians from Melbourne, Australia, who visited recently.
Auckland’s next challengers – Northern Brisbane Rollers – are currently ranked third in the southern hemisphere; does the homegrown team have what it takes to triumph over the women from across the ditch?
If you have never been to a game of roller derby before, now is your chance to deck yourself out in Auckland’s proud blues and scream for the home side. Roller derby is a fast-paced, strategic and full contact sport, played out with finesse, grace and grit… and it’s all on eight wheels!
Head along to YMCA Pitt Street on August 24 to find out why roller derby is the fastest growing sport in the world today. Tickets are just $15 from Eventfinda. Doors to this exciting event are at 6pm; game starts at 7pm.
