Variety Mini Bash to South Auckland, Port Waikato, Pukekohe And the Awhitu Peninsula for the Weekend September 20-22,
2013
The Variety Mini-Bash will be coming to South Auckland, Port Waikato, Pukekohe and the Awhitu Peninsula in September,
delivering grants and funds to children and child-related organisations that need a hand-up.
“That could be you,” says Westie comedian and long-time Basher Ewen Gilmour, “but you’ll have to get in quick – the
deadline’s July 31!”
In a rare serious moment the famous Westie says, “If you’re struggling to afford an insulin pump or specialist equipment
for your kid, your playgroup needs equipment or your school needs library books, we’re your guys; get your funding
application in to Variety – The Children’s Charity.”
Gilmour will be at the wheel of his GT Radial Tyres Ford Falcon among a crew of classic cars and their fun-loving teams,
who spend all year raising money to help Kiwi kids – then bring their larger-than-life brand of fun to the regions to
entertain children, hand out grants and help with community projects.
“Not sure you qualify?” Ewen says, “We’ve delivered specialised trikes, computer equipment for kids who are hard of
hearing or partially blind, art and play equipment and even specialized swings for kids in wheelchairs – and I can tell
you, seeing a child try that swing for the first time brings a tear to the manly eye.”
Application forms are available on line at www.variety.org.nz or by phoneing 09) 520 4111 – but be quick, applications close on July 31.
