Youthtown encourages film-stars of the future with launch of new clubs

Budding young TV and film stars now have the opportunity to hone their acting, filming and production skills, with the launch of Youthtown Central’s new after school programme clubs today.

Whether you’re a natural in front of the camera, or a Peter Jackson in the making, the Youthtown TV and film club gives young people (aged 7-13) the chance to make their own TV show or film which will be web based.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to work with mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills and build confidence through technology,” after school and holiday programme Coordinator, Dylan Perfect–Tait says.

This is just one of the new clubs introduced to the popular Youthtown Central term 3 after school programmes (for 5 to 13 year-olds) starting Monday 29 July.

Structured swimming classes, carpentry clubs, music and dance clubs have also been introduced.

In addition, Youth mentors from the Youthtown Youth Squad will run an intermediate mentoring programme for 11 to 13-year-olds. The programme will focus on the transition from intermediate to high school through self-confidence and self-esteem workshops.

“Youth mentors will help attendees to meet new friends, learn valuable skills, and take part in a range of activities that will build confidence and prepare them for the next phase of school life,” Perfect-Tait says.

Youthtown after school programmes take place from 3pm – 6pm weekdays during the school term.
