Statement Regarding ‘The X Factor NZ’ Voting

Due to an unprecedented volume of votes during last night’s Grand Final Decider, some text voters received an automated message saying that voting was closed. We can assure the people who got that message that their votes did go through and were included in those that were monitored on the night.

Since then, as part of our verification process, all votes have been checked and re-counted. The overall voting is being independently audited. Once that audit is complete, we will release percentage results.

But we can say without a doubt that Jackie Thomas is the Winner of The X Factor NZ. Verification to this point confirms she was ahead both when voting paused and still further ahead when voting finally closed.

To our knowledge this has been the biggest interactive television event in New Zealand history, and we’ve been overwhelmed by the response from New Zealanders.

Co-Executive Producer Andrew Szusterman says:

“We want to thank NZers for their incredible response to The X Factor, not just last night’s Decider but the way you embraced the judges, contestants and the series as a whole.

“We couldn’t be happier with the success of the show. Congratulations to Jackie Thomas and thanks again to everyone who has been part of The X Factor. We couldn’t have done it without you.”

1,289,800 Kiwis tuned into the Grand Finals Decider episode (5+ cume), which had an average audience of 576,800 (5+).

The Decider also rated well in the key demographics winning a 32.8% share of TV3’s target 25-54 audience, and a 39.3% share of the Main Household Shopper with children demographics.

During the series, 3,274,900 Kiwis (79.5% of the population) tuned into the hit TV3 show (5+ cume).

Jackie Thomas’ debut single ‘It’s Worth It’ went straight to #1 on iTunes today. Her debut album will be released on Friday, 9 August.
