“Great to have all the information of different areas in the one day because it
gives you a view of all these different aspects coming together as a whole. Fantastic”

KICK/TIMATA
Kick
your career up a gear
So, you have talent, drive and ambition but you need to step up a gear to make your career really take off? Then the KICK/TIMATA essential skills workshops are for you.
Finding the Moolah
Got a show planned? Time to find some funding. This day-long workshop covers everything from different sources of funding, tips and guidelines for writing funding proposals and applications, and pitching – from good to great.
Be prepared to get practical, by the end of the day you will all be preparing and presenting a hypothetical pitch.
Sources of
funding Barbara Procter from
Auckland Council and Catherine Nola from
Creative NZ will talk about what funding is available, when
and how to apply as well things to think about when
completing your application.
How to be convincing on paper Creative ideas can be hard to express in words, however you need to be able to explain your project clearly, succinctly and convincingly. In this session, writer Jenni Heka will guide you through organising and writing your ideas coherently.
Getting the budget right Project budgeting is a balancing act. Developing a budget that is both realistic and attractive to a potential funder is a challenge. Led by Maria Waterhouse this session will cover all aspects of project budgeting.
Crowd funding – should I? Crowd funding can be a great source of funding, but it’s not as easy as it sounds. In this session Anna Guenther of PledgeMe will talk about what set a successful campaign apart, the essentials for a good campaign, and pitfalls to avoid.
Pitching
… it doesn’t need to be nail biting! To be in a
festival you need to pitch your show. Carrie Rae
Cunningham will talk about what to include in a
pitch, what sets a pitch apart from the rest, and what to
leave out. Session culminates in participants developing
and delivering a practice pitch for our own panel.
