Richter City ready to roll for Wellington fans

Wellington roller derby fans are in for a treat this weekend when Smash Malice take on Brutal Pageant in game two of Richter City Roller Derby’s 2013 home season.

These two original Richter City teams have been coming head to head since roller derby started in Wellington four years ago.

Smash Malice is hungry for a win after a narrow loss against Comic Slams in the season’s opener in April. This will be Brutal Pageant’s first game of the 2013 season and they will want to hit the track hard to show what they are capable off this year. Smash Malice is going to have to put the pressure on as they need to win this game if they want a shot at the season finale.

Both teams have some new skaters on their roster and some transfers since last season.

Richter City’s Chairperson Tuscany Otton, known on the track as the massive hitting Jem Molition is excited to be captaining Smash Malice this year.

“Richter City’s rep teams have been doing lots of travelling around New Zealand and are fast building a name for Wellington as the best roller derby city in the country. We know from travelling that we also have the best fans,” said Jem Molition.

“We love representing Wellington when we travel, but all of our skaters have a really special place in our hearts for our home supporters.

“Playing our home season as our home teams gives Wellingtonians the chance to dress up and support their favourite skaters – and we also love the chance to have hard, fast and most importantly really fun games in front of our best audiences.”
