Stars align for The Roxy Charity Ball
World-renowned celebrities, and entertainers are coming out to play this Friday night at The Roxy Great Gatsby Charity Ball.
The Charity Ball, in aide of Ronald McDonald House, will be held at the iconic The Roxy Cinema in Wellington, with international actor James Nesbitt as MC. Touted as the social event of the season, The Roxy Great Gatsby Charity Ball is open to the public but tickets are limited.
“Those attending The Roxy Great Gatsby Ball will be treated to a lavish party that the Great Gatsby himself would have been proud to host,” says Caroline Arapoff, Events Manager for The Roxy.
Wellington jazz aficionado The Rodger Fox Band will provide entertainment during the evening, alongside burlesque dancers, Fuse Circus performers, and tap dancer (and New Zealand’s Got Talent runner up) Andrew Cesan. Upstairs in the Grand Lobby, guests can pose for nostalgia shots in The Amazing Travelling Photo Booth, or try their luck at roulette.
The Roxy Great Gatsby Charity Ball extravagance extends to the menu. Coco at the Roxy Head Chef Nic Spicer and his team has put together a stunning menu of 1920s canapés that will be served throughout the evening, including silver dollar sliders, salmon vols-au-vent with capers and caviar, towers of éclairs, doughnuts, and iconic cocktails for the event. There will also be a ‘Midnight picnic’ for partygoers with staying power.
A giant ice sculpture, filled with oysters, and decadent seafood offerings, will feature, as will a 1920s cake designed especially for the event by The Stiletto Studio. Bohemein Fresh Chocolate has donated an amazing chocolate sculpture for guests to feast their eyes (and appetites) on. Wellington jewellers Tory & Ko will have collectable jewellery pieces made from gold, silver, precious gemstones, and pearls, on display in the Grand Lobby.
The Ball also has the support of Federal Merchants and Co, Doctors Wines, and Tatty Bogler Wines, which are supplying wine and spirits for the event.
“The Roxy Great Gatsby Charity Ball is an event not to be missed. While we won’t be screening The Great Gatsby film, we will be recreating the decadence of the 1920s era, and having a ball of a time! The dress code is strictly ‘1920s best’, such as flapper dresses, tuxedos and tails, fascinators, and boas. We’re excited to see the different looks created by those coming. Tickets for the ball are selling out so we recommend people secure their ticket in the next day or two to avoid disappointment,” says Caroline.
