Published: Wed 29 May 2013 02:44 PM
Hi potential Thistle Hall exhibitors,
As you may know gallery submissions have been on hold while we await a schedule from Wellington City Council for the necessary earthquake strengthening of Thistle Hall.
Although a firm schedule is still not available at this stage, we now know it won't start before September.
So we have the following short notice dates available for July and August 2013:
1-7 July
• 8-14 July
• 15-21 July
• 22-28 July
• 29 July - 4 August
• 5-11 August
• 12-18 August
• 19-25 August
• 26 August - 1 September
To register your interest in one of these slots, you need to:
• Download and print out a copy of the application for gallery space from http://www.thistlehall.org.nz/rates-gallery.html
• Fill out and sign and this form and get it to me by: Wednesday 12 June (I will accept pdfs or faxed copies also).
•Include images of the work intended for exhibition or examples of your past work
• Specify on it your first, second and third choice in dates.
We will have 1 week allocated to a community group – these applications will be considered separately, so if you are a community group please make sure you check the box on the application form if you would like to be considered in this category
On Wednesday 12 June the Board of Trustees will meet and consider applications.
In selecting exhibitions for each month, the Board will strive to combine a mix of media, content, group and individual shows, cultures (in the broadest sense of the word), experienced and new exhibitors etc, based on the exhibition applications that are received. If there are a number of exhibition proposals at one time, that seem similar in many of the above ways, these applications will be placed in a hat and one will be randomly selected.
Applications will be selected to fill the July & August dates and those selected will be contacted on Friday 14 June.
Once you accept, you must make a bank deposit for the $100 bond or get a cheque or to me by Friday 21 June to confirm your booking, or the slot may be offered to someone else.
Exhibitions are 7 days and run Monday – Sunday inclusive.
The hire fee is $160 + 10% commission.
As the hirer you are responsible for all aspects of your show, please see the hire agreement for details.
You may only have one show in any 12 month period.
Once you have supplied your bond and hire agreement, these shows are confirmed. If you cancel without good reason, it is not likely you will get another show easily. You will incur a $100 penalty if you cancel your booking within 28 days of your hire period. Please see the hire agreement for all your responsibilities and liabilities as a hirer.
