Inspiring Stories Trust is coming to a town near you

STORYTELLING ON WHEELS
Inspiring Stories Trust is coming to a town near you to share the tales of amazing Kiwis through film.

Wellington, May 10th - On May 10th Inspiring Stories Trust embarks on it’s third annual epic New Zealand road trip. Six award-winning filmmakers will journey from Dargaville to Gore. Their aim: To inspire and support the next generation of filmmakers, and celebrate young kiwis making a difference.

The two crews will run more than 60 events nationwide, including filmmaking workshops for young people, community film screenings and on-road production.

Designed for a secondary schools audience, each workshop aims to develop storytelling, camera, editing and project development skills. As well as support young people to use the powerful tool of film to tell their stories and the stories of those around them. Film screenings are public events that feature an array of award-winning short documentaries and entertainment by the road trip crews.

The initiative is supported by a number of organisations, including the NZ Film Commission. “The New Zealand film industry is growing, and that means we need to identify more and more talented people and help support them to have successful careers. It’s fantastic to think the Inspiring Stories team could be finding the filmmakers of the future,” said Graeme Mason, CEO of the NZ Film Commission.

Last year nearly 1,000 people took part in road trip events, run in more than 30 locations nationwide. “The best thing is seeing young people buzzing at the end of a workshop, knowing that their voice and creativity can have a positive impact on the world around them. This year we’ve got an absolute dream team of facilitators, and we’ll reach twice as many people” – Guy Ryan, CEO & Founder of Inspiring Stories Trust.
