Z Energy Helps Epilepsy New Zealand Do ‘Good in the Hood’!
On Monday April 22nd, two of Epilepsy New Zealand’s Auckland Central and North Shore based Field Officers, Sasha Clarkson and Bridget Watson, visited Z Greville Road, Albany to receive $510 through the Z Energy ‘Good in the Hood’ community giving scheme.
The support of Z Energy enables Epilepsy New Zealand to continue working alongside people with epilepsy to breakdown social barriers that they come across in their community. It also contributes to improving the everyday lives of people with epilepsy and their families, by helping Epilepsy New Zealand to provide advice, support and community education through their nationwide team of Field Officers.
Epilepsy New Zealand has been in existence for 57 years, working nationwide to provide support and information to people with epilepsy and their families. They also work in the community providing education, often in schools and workplaces where discrimination is at its extreme due to fear about the condition.
Epilepsy is the most common neurological disorder, and while approximately 90,000 New Zealanders have the condition (or 2% of the population), it affects more than 1 in 4 people in New Zealand (that’s just over 1,000,000 people). It does not discriminate and can affect anyone of any age, gender, social standing or intellect. It is a condition that is often stigmatised mainly due to a lack of knowledge.
Through the ‘Good in the Hood’ programme, Z Energy has given $1 million to neighbourhood groups and projects that matter the most to its customers Learn more about Z Energy’s ‘Good in the Hood’ here: http://z.co.nz
