It's a great NZ Music month for Aly Cook! The New Zealand female Country Artist of the Year has a busy time regularly travelling around the country and crossing the Tasman performing. In the next few months performances include with her band The Sou'Westers at the MLT/NZ Country Music Awards on the 30th of May, where The Sou'Westers debut single, written by Dean Hetherington is a finalist. Tutoring & performing at the Songwriters retreat, at the Dag Sheep station in Nundle as part of Tamworth Hats off Festival, Kununurra Ag show in Western Australia, Gympie Music Muster on the first New Zealand Showcase with The Sou'Westers and performing at the National Country Music Awards in Hamilton where she take to the stage along with other top kiwi Country performers and special guest Juice Newton from the USA.
All the travel will now be made easier and lighter by the addition of a new Mini Maton Guitar from Maton Australia.. Under her new endorsement by the prestigious Australian made Guitar brand. Aly joins an esteemed list including the likes of Tommy Emmanuel, Keith Urban, Paul Kelly and other top recording artists who have endorsement with Maton Guitars including the only other kiwi artist with Maton Endorsement Neil Finn.
Aly says "I bought my first Maton from Beggs Musicworks in Nelson in 1980, My Maton has been my constant travel companion. Being Left handed I decided to buy the guitar that would last me for life, all my songs have been written on her & she sounds better with everyday I play her"
"It is such an honor to be awarded endorsement by Maton, their beautiful hand crafted guitars are still made in Australia today, as they have been since 1946 when founder Bill May lovingly created the most amazing rich sounding guitars. Today the new models sound just as good"
"My new endorsed guitar is a left handed Tobacco Sunburst Mini Maton and will be my constant companion on Air New Zealand flights, as its a small body guitar with a huge sound, is easier to travel than my precious 30 year old Maton.. who will now be retired from road and used for recording only. "
